🐶 DogYears

How old is your dog
in human years?

Bigger dogs age faster. Smaller dogs live longer. This calculator uses breed-specific size to give you a real answer — not the lazy ×7 myth.

In human years

Why the "1 dog year = 7 human years" rule is wrong

The ×7 rule comes from the rough lifespan ratio between dogs and people, but it ignores the part that matters most: dogs mature very quickly in their first two years, and then ageing slows down — at different rates depending on their size class.

A Chihuahua at 10 years old is roughly 56 human years. A Great Dane at 10 years old is closer to 86. Both started at "15 human years" by age 1, but the giant breed ages almost twice as fast after that.
